AIGA Minnesota Organizational Strategy

When I joined AIGA Minnesota as Director of Membership, the organization was facing a significant moment of change. Membership numbers were down, offerings and processes had become outdated, and the organization had accumulated systems, services, and expenses that no longer served its needs.

I began by listening.

Through one-on-one conversations with board members, I discovered something important: the organization had smart, ambitious, passionate people who cared deeply about the creative community—but many weren't feeling energized by the way the organization was working.

That became the starting point for change.

I created an organizational mind map to help the board see the opportunities already within AIGA Minnesota and where greater focus could create momentum. From there, we began rethinking roles, removing outdated processes and unnecessary services, strengthening communication, and creating a clearer approach to promoting the work we're already doing.

Organizational Alignment

Helping redefine board roles around people's strengths, interests, and the needs of the organization.

Process & Infrastructure

Identifying outdated websites, services, and processes to eliminate or streamline.

Communications Strategy

Bringing a social media expert into the organization and developing a shared social calendar so board members can see and support what's happening.

Internal Connection

Creating Slack channels and communication structures to make collaboration easier across the board.

Leadership Onboarding

Developing a welcome kit to create a more consistent experience for new board members.

Brand Renewal

Beginning a collaborative process to redefine how AIGA Minnesota presents itself and reflects its renewed energy.

Program Evolution

Beginning to rethink Design Camp so the experience, format, and connection to AIGA are more relevant to today's creative community.

As Vice President of the organization, I enjoy supporting or contributing to:

The goal isn't simply to increase membership.

It's to create an organization people want to belong to.

That means making it easier to understand what AIGA Minnesota offers, easier to participate, easier to connect with one another, and more meaningful for the people helping to lead it.
